Dear Friends;
I am officially declaring that I am withdrawing from the race for Bexar County Sheriff today. This decision has not been made lightly and I have considered this option for several weeks. The main reason for withdrawing is my failure to garner the necessary support to manage an effective campaign.
I wanted to meet with fellow serious Republican candidates to discuss my decision. Ralph Diaz declined to meet with me insisting that he wants to go “in another direction.” I did have the opportunity to spend time with Susan Pamerleau. I find her to be sincere, gracious and genuine. Her life experiences at USAA and her career in the United States Air Force convinced me that she is the best possible candidate – in either party, to become our Sheriff in November. I was very impressed how well she articulated her knowledge of the issues and what it will take to correct the significant problems either created by the Ortiz administration or his failure to respond to existing ones.
What the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (this includes all stakeholders) needs most is an effective manager. Susan Pamerleau is that person. She’s capably managed vast resources at all levels; great and small and I am confident in her abilities to guide the BCSO in developing its own brand.
When I’ve spoken to others about Susan, the most common comment made is “but, she’s not a cop.” That is not what the office needs right now. As a proven leader and an effective manager she is highly astute and when she becomes Sheriff, she will surround herself with highly competent policing professionals capable of managing resources; both human and fiscal of the tenth largest Sheriff’s Office in the United States.
I sincerely hope that you will consider supporting Susan in her quest to become Bexar County Sheriff. She needs your support and your vote in the Republican primary May 29th and certainly in the general election this November. Please visit her website at www.susanforsheriff.com to learn more about this remarkable candidate. I am sure that you will agree with me that hers is the exact type of leadership required, right here and right now. It is time to move forward with Susan.
Yours sincerely and humbly,
Ian S. “Buddy” Lovestock
